Newcastle Urology at BAUS 2023

The British Association of Urological Surgeons (BAUS) annual meeting is an important event on the calendar for any urology department in the UK, and this year was no different. Held in Birmingham, it was a high-quality scientific event that was back to full strength after the COVID restrictions of the last 2-3 years, and the pent-up enthusiasm from the whole membership was unleashed with full vigor. There was excellent attendance from the Newcastle urology contingent, highlighting the commitment shown by the department to supporting national issues and urological service development across the country, while representing the north-east in particular. This was capped off by receiving the winning poster prize in the ‘education and training’ section, with a poster summarising the excellent peri-CCT fellowships currently offered at the department. Congratulations to the team that put it together, and indeed the wider team that helps establish and deliver these exceptional training opportunities for UK and international urologists.
