The Urology Department at Freeman hospital is one of the leading providers of tertiary urology services in the UK. We cater to patients in the North of England – around Newcastle-upon-Tyne and extending to Cumbria and the Scottish borders. We also accept tertiary referrals from other regions of the UK for specialist services.

Our clinicians are recognised nationally as experts in the diagnosis and treatment of bladder, kidney, prostate and testicular cancers, female urinary tract disorders, urinary incontinence, neuro-urology, urinary tract reconstruction and male sexual dysfunction.

These services are delivered by a team of highly trained professionals working out of a purpose-built department containing 3 dedicated urology wards (including a day of surgery ward), 5 dedicated urology theatres, a new state-of-the-art day treatment centre, a specialist lithotripsy unit, dedicated urology investigation suite, emergency admission unit and out-patient clinics.

We promoted multi-disciplinary working and have regular MDT (multi-disciplinary team) meetings covering specialist areas such as uro-radiology, uro-oncology, endo-urology, complex ureteric strictures, benign and reconstructive urology, complex endometriosis and endocrine disorders involving the urinary tract.
